I prepared these cupcakes for my hubby’s Birthday. At first I didn’t want to publish the recipe as I posted few cake recipes recently. Anyway because it is almost Valentine’s Day & these are matching with the theme, I finally decided to post the recipe.
Earlier I had a plan to bake a cake for his birthday, but I couldn’t find much free time as my exam date is almost near. These cupcakes didn’t get much of my time & the method I used to decorate is so simple & interesting.
Here is the recipe for basic chocolate cupcakes.
Ingredients (6 nos)
75 g Butter in room temperature
75g sugar
75g flour sieved
1 eggs in room temperature
1 tbspn cocoa powder
1 tsp Baking powder
½ tsp vanilla essence
Method
Preheat oven for 350F.Line the baking pan with cupcake liners.
In a bowl combine flour, cocoa powder & baking powder, swift them & keep aside.
Beat butter & sugar together in low speed for 2 minutes. Then gradually add egg for this mixture and mix in high speed for about 2 minutes until the batter become smooth.
Then add vanilla essence,
Also gradually add flour while beating.
Once it becomes a smooth batter, fill the cupcake liners with batter. Fill upto ¾ of the cup.
Bake for about 20 to 25 mins or until a tooth pick inserted to cake comes out clean.
Decorating
I used stencil method to decorate these cupcakes. Major reason is I want to control sugar consumption & I found this method while browsing.
The other reason is this method is quick & easy .Also no much utensils to clean 🙂
First I cut heart shapes using a paper.(A cookie cutter was helpful to draw it faster)
Then kept all hearts on top of cupcakes.
Sift some icing sugar on them.
Remove the stencil carefully.
Yes, they were decorated!!
And more excitingly, he enjoyed the taste of them as the cupcakes were not very sweet after decorating.
