written by Amila Gamage Wickramarachchi September 30, 2019
Dos and Don’ts of Eating with an Active Lifestyle

We should be thankful for being gifted with fruits – miracle foods! They’re not just tasty, but they also come with plenty of benefits regarding our health and appearance. Today we will focus on how certain types of fruits can affect the skin very positively. More precisely, you will have a chance to read about what best fruits for glowing and radiant skin are. You should always pick the ones low in sugar, glycemic index and load and full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. It’s not hard finding what you need, since we can make a list of at least 7 fruits serving this purpose.

Best Fruits for Glowing Skin

Strawberries

Give strawberries a try if you dream about having flawless acne-free skin. They are abundant with alpha-hydroxy acid or salicylic acid and vitamin C, which makes them a perfect choice, considering the fact this helps in keeping the skin clean and clear. You can thank the ellagic acid in strawberries for preventing wrinkles, collagen destruction and protecting the skin from UV damage. You can chop strawberries in your breakfast cereal or porridge, and they make a perfect addition to smoothies and shakes. For a very yummy option, you can add them to cakes and muffins.

Best Fruits for Glowing Skin

Avocado

Healthy fats are important for healthy skin, and by eating avocados, you provide your organism with anti-inflammatory fats, vitamin B3, B5, B6 and folate. Being a great source of vitamin E, avocados give us an important antioxidant that helps protect our skin from oxidative damage. They are also responsible for keeping our skin flexible and moisturized. Apart from avocados, you can also use remarkable moisturizing skincare products. You can find the ones for all types of skin – dry, oily or too sensitive. However, don’t experiment on your own but rather consult a highly trained skin expert at your clinic first to get some advice on what best options for your skin are.

Grapes

We have green, black and red varieties and all of them are great for our skin! Grapes contain resveratrol, making them an ideal remedy for protection against UV damage, and they are amazing against skin cancer. Additionally, their seeds also have rejuvenating properties, so if you want to make your salads more interesting, try spicing them up with some juicy grapes and delight in all their benefits.

Cherries

If you want a superhero fruit that keeps your skin healthy (containing vitamins A, B, C, and E) don’t hesitate to go for cherries! Add antioxidants to the list of everything wonderful they have to offer us, and you get perfect little tasty miracle food! They are good for brightening and fighting off free-radical damage (aging), not to mention they are great hydrators.

Mango

The succulent mango is perfect for rejuvenating our skin, containing vitamins A, C, E and K, beta-carotene, flavonoids, polyphenolics and xanthophylls. You’ll love it because of its anti-inflammatory properties and the fact that it protects the skin from any kind of DNA damage. This ingredient is what makes many cosmetic preparations marvellous. Oranges

Best Fruits for Glowing Skin

Vibrant in colour, this citrus fruit with a tangy and juicy taste is something we really love, especially during winter. Because of vitamin C, it’s a boon for the skin. Oranges also prevent photodamage and oxidative damage and they are loaded with antioxidants as well, which makes them helpful in reducing inflammation, synthesising collagen and preventing DNA damage.

Watermelon

Women who have acne-prone and sensitive skin should eat watermelons as often as they can, since it’s another great boon for the skin. We love this yummy watery fruit during summer, and it’s perfect because it makes the skin radiant! Considering that they contain 90 per cent of water, they have the ability to flush out the harmful toxins from the skin and keep the digestive system in track. There are also vitamins A, B1, B6 and C, as well as ample amounts of lycopene, flavonoids and carotenoids. The presence of lycopene prevents skin damage by removing free radicals.

Fruits are healthy and wonderful for so many reasons, and perfect skin is just one of them. Of course, these seven aren’t the only ones that can give you remarkably glowing skin, but they are a perfect way to start. Combine them with quality skincare products and you can expect amazing results in no time!
