5 Benefits of Wheatgrass

Wheatgrass, juicing and detoxing are popular buzz these days among those who consider healthy eating. Although I haven’t try wheatgrass by myself, I just wanted to see why wheatgrass is so popular and could read few interesting and informative articles.

What Is Wheatgrass?
Wheatgrass is the younger stage of the wheat plant, (Triticum aestivum). Usually most people grow their own wheatgrass at home by growing wheat seeds in water. Then they harvest the leaves of wheat sprouts when they are just above the soil.

There are several reasons to drink wheatgrass juice due to its benefits .Here is some of the healthy Benefits of wheatgrass.
#1: Full of Vitamins

Wheatgrass is a well-known natural source of vitamins and minerals which includes Vitamins A, E, and B-12, Calcium, Selenium, Magnesium and Iron. Also Wheatgrass is a wonderful source of living chlorophyll which is a pigment in plants. Chlorophyl contains magnesium. Therefore the wheatgrass juice is extremely full of vitamins and nutrients. However to get the maximum benefits of wheatgrass juice, you should consume it when the juice is fresh.

#2: Power of Rejuvenation

It is popular among many people because of its powers of rejuvenation. Wheatgrass Juice is called as the plasma of youth. This wonderful juice is known for its ability of regaining the elements that are needed for your body’s cells, especially hormones, enzymes, nucleic acids and vitamins.

#3: Suppress Appetite

5 Benefits of Wheatgrass

This may sound interesting for those who look for losing weight or in adiet plan. Wheatgrass is usually loaded with so many nutrients. Therefore it is said that when you had a glass of wheatgrass juice, you will feel full and your body will not hunger for other foods. To have maximum benefits, take a wheatgrass shot on an empty stomach each morning .This may prevent your overeating.

#4: Ability of Detoxing

Wheatgrass juice is well known for its ability of detoxification. This is considered as a super detoxing juice compared to carrot juice or any other detoxing juice extracted from fruits and vegetables.

#5: Energy Booster

Usually green foods are known as healthy because of they are of low calorie. That’s why even wheatgrass is popular among those who are looking for losing weight. However wheatgrass shots are popular among athletes too .When I checked reasons of giving wheatgrass juice for runners, my finding is really interesting.

Do you know, wheatgrass is a good energy booster!

Basically chlorophyll in wheatgrass helps with the transportation of oxygen to the cells of the body. Therefore drinking wheatgrass shots is considered as a way of promoting energy, stamina and feelings of well-being.

However I am not an expert to give advice on these benefits. I read few informative articles written by others in different health related websites and thought of introducing this super plant with you all who read Food Corner.

Do you use wheatgrass in recipes other than wheatgrass juice? Or have you used it before?
