Not just that, but it is also easy to get around the city as well. if you love traveling, there is no reason that you wouldn’t want to visit this place. The city has got a lot of entertainment to offer to its visitors. However, if you are planning to visit the city of Budapest, you need to get certain things straight.

Budapest has a wide range of dishes that you just can’t skip out on. From savoury to the sweet delicacies, the options are quite extensive. If visiting, it is completely futile if you don’t try some of the iconic dishes that Budapest is known around for. Start the day with a delectable serving of the Lángos which is a fried flat bread. The chimney cake and stuffed cabbage are also one of the luxuries that you can’t forget to try out. For fulfilling the sweet craving, trying out the Drummer Cake, otherwise known as the Dobos Torta is a must while there.

2. The swimsuit is a must

If you are traveling to Budapest, it is important that you carry a pair of swimsuit with you. After all, Budapest is known as the city of baths. To be more precise, there are a total of 118 mineral pools in the city where you can spend a relaxing day dipping in the mineral-rich water. The largest mineral pool in the city is Szechenyi Thermal Bath. The bath remains crowded most of the times of the year. With all these amazing mineral pools in the city, it is absolutely mandatory for you to carry your swimsuit.

3. Don’t clink your beer glasses

You should never clink your beer glasses in Budapest. In 1848, Hungary’s revolution was destroyed by Habsburgs. Austrians celebrated their victory in Vienna by clinking and toasting their beer glasses everywhere. Since then Hungary vowed to never clink their beer glasses ever again. It may have been 167 years but the tradition is still followed in the city. So if you don’t want to raise the eyebrows of fellow drinkers around you, it’s better that you don’t.

4. You can ditch Euros

Hangar may be a member state of the European Union but it has a different currency. The currency of Hungary is Forints. So if you thought you can carry your euros to the city of Budapest then you are very wrong about it. Also, visitors should be informed that not all restaurants accept cards so you may want to visit the ATMs around the city to get your cash ready.

5. Affordable public transport

One of the best things in Budapest is that public transport in the city is really cheap. You can even buy a pack of 10 tickets from the newspaper kiosks or station. You can have plenty of public transport options for going around the city. From trains to tram, you can avail it all. If you wish to explore the city nicely you may want to opt for public transport. Also, you should be happy to know that the city is walkable.

6. There is a train run by kids

Yes, you read it right. The city has a train that is being run by children since, 1948. Children between the age group of 10 and 14 are trained for four complete months to become train conductors, inspectors, and workers on the 11-kilometre railway. All this may sound fascinating to you but you can witness this train once you visit Budapest. The train offers you a ride of 40 minutes to the top of Buda Hills. On your way, you can enjoy a beautiful scenic view outside the train. Also, children workers on the train will salute you. Well, you don’t have to worry about your safety as the train is driven by a grown-up driver.

If you are to visit Budapest you should book your trip with Withlocals. Withlocals is one of the unique platform that focuses more in making your trip a memorable one by arranging a local who becomes your guide. The local helps you understand the culture of the place in a more better way.

After going through the mentioned points, you must be already fascinated by the city. So what are you waiting for? Book your tickets and pack your bags to Budapest for your next vacation.
