Happy Tummy : Interesting and Nutritious Tiffin Ideas for Your Little One

Nutritious Tiffin Ideas for Your Little One

Your little one is now all grown up and has started school. As wonderful as this new phase of learning, activity, and joy is, it brings a new challenge for the mother.

Getting the child interested in tiffin boxes and packed lunches can be quite a task. Then starts the scramble for balance between taste and nutrition, visual appeal and satiety. Fret not. With a little planning and with all the help from Slurrp Farm, you will be able to dish out the most interesting and nutritious tiffin meals for your young one.

Tiffin 1 – Chocolate millets pancakes, oats honey banana cookies, carrot sticks

Nothing beats the appeal of chocolate when it comes to the young ones. This makes it a mom’s best friend. A power packed millet pancake that smells and tastes of chocolate will get your child excited about opening the lunch box. Add to this, a couple of oats cookies made with bananas and honey and, you know, you have a winner! Add a few carrot sticks as munchies. These will encourage the child to develop a taste for healthy snacks.

Tiffin 2 – Beetroot millet dosa, Tangy Tomato Mighty Munch, watermelon chunks

One trick that every mom uses to get her child to indulge in healthy eating habits is to make the food colourful and visually appealing. Beetroot dosas made from super healthy millets fit the bill perfectly. Today’s treat is a pack of tangy, tomato-flavoured Mighty Munch. Watermelon chunks are great for summer months. Not only are they a favourite of children, but also help the child develop a liking for natural sugars (in fruits) rather than artificial flavours.

Tiffin 3 – Oatmeal porridge with banana fruit powder, chocolate ragi Mighty Puff, a few grapes

Oatmeal is a great option when it comes to making healthy and easy snacks for kids. Add a generous helping of banana fruit power to the oats porridge and make this a fun school lunch. Bananas are a great source of potassium and magnesium and eliminate the need for added sugar. A pack of irresistible chocolate ragi power puffs will fulfil any midday chocolate wishes that the little one might have. Now reinforce the healthy snacking habit with a few grapes. Make them a mix of colours for added fun.

Tiffin 4 – Spinach millet dosa, ragi and chocolate cookies, cucumber sticks

Veggie Cups with Mustard Dip

Spinach is a great source of iron, calcium, and folate. And what can make for a better tiffin than a green spinach dosa with millets and 4 different dals? Now on to one of the favourite snacks for kids – chocolate chip cookies (with healthy ragi, of course). Today’s tiffin has cucumber sticks as a snack option.

Tiffin 5 – Banana choco-chip millet pancake, cheese and herbs Mighty Munch, apple slices

Bananas and chocolate chips are ever popular options. Add to this the goodness of amaranth, jowar, oats, and foxtail millets and you have a winner on your hands. Your kids will love these all-natural pancakes. Team them up with a pack of cheese- and herb-flavoured Mighty Munch and add a few slices of apples for a power packed yummy tiffin.
