Deviled Cauliflower

written by Amila Gamage Wickramarachchi March 19, 2014

Deviled Cauliflower

We like Cauliflower in our daily cooking. But, I don’t like to cook Cauliflower as a curry always. I tried it as a spicy appetizer and came out very well. Actually I used Sri Lankan style Chicken devil recipe and substituted cauliflower instead of chicken. Also did some changes to spices. Final outcome was really good.
On the other way, Cauliflower is a vegetable which is good to add into regular diet because of its health benefits. Do you know, it is a very good source of vitamin C? I never thought! But found while reading some articles on Cauliflower healthy benefits and amazed to see it is a rich source for vitamin B & C.

Deviled Cauliflower
I tried this as a spicy appetizer, but later served as a side dish with fried rice. It was good in both ways.
Deviled Cauliflower
Here is the recipe, the ingredients are enough for 2 people with other dishes. However it only filled one small serving dish.
Ingredients (For 1 serving dish)
250g Cauliflower
1 medium size onion
2 tspn ginger  garlic paste
1-2 green chilies
1 tbspn red chili flakes
1 Red bell pepper
3 tbspn tomato sauce
1 tbspn soy sauce
Cooking Oil
Salt, pepper as required.
Method

Wash  and cut cauliflower into florets. Deep fry cauliflower and keep aside.
Slice onion, green chili and bell pepper. Keep aside.
In a separate bowl, mix tomato sauce & soy sauce together. Keep aside.
In a pan, heat 3 teaspoons of oil. When oil is hot, add ginger garlic paste. Then add chili flakes. Mix well. In few seconds, add the sauce mixture & allow the sauce to become thick. Then add deep fried cauliflower, onion, red pepper & green chili. Mix well.
Add some salt & pepper as required.
Mix well. Serve hot as a side dish or as an appetizer.
Enjoy!!

what a coincidence you have a devilled cauliflower post up. I was going to tell you I picked up the cauliflower from market and made that curry style you did a few posts back. It was great. I had extra and even made a spicy noodle dish with mixed veggies and cauliflower and now I have this suggestion! Now this looks amazing…
