The name of this tea is bit funny. It is Golden Monkey Black Tea and from Teavivre. It was a day that I wanted to sip some black tea in a calm afternoon. So, it was a perfect time to try another tea sample sent from Teavivre. I always find it difficult to select a tea type when it comes to try a new tea type. Anyway, I decided and selected Golden Monkey Black Tea. Actually it was a perfect match for a calm afternoon. The taste of it was a mix taste of bit bitter and also mild for the first sip.
Here are my first thoughts and details about this tea type.
The tea leaves are thin and tight as needles. They are of golden and black colour. As per Teavivre, these golden hairy tips are the reason for the name ‘Golden monkey’. The tea leaves gave a good aroma once I opened the pack, if you are a tea lover this is the first reason to attract to this tea before brewing.
The origin of this tea is Fujian China.
You may interest to know how they produce this Golden Monkey tea.
It is really interesting. This tea is made of the fresh buds and leaves of Fuding Pekoe. The tea leaves undergo the traditional process of lightly sun withering, rolling, fermentation and drying. This is a fully fermented black tea.
How to brew:
Brew at 90C for 1 to 3 minutes
Appearance and Taste:
After brewing, it will give a bright orange colour black tea. The leaves will expand and spread in the tea. Really, it is aromatic. The first sip will give a mellow aroma and will last long. The good thing is that this tea is a Low caffeine tea.(less than 20% of a cup of coffee)
