Canned Tuna Stir Fry Recipe

written by Amila Gamage Wickramarachchi July 29, 2019
Canned Tuna Stir Fry
Canned Tuna Stir Fry

This canned tuna stir fry is little bit spicy and it suits our Sri Lankan taste buds. 🙂 In this recipe post I share the basic tuna fish stir fry recipe as we cook in Sri Lanka. However for the same recipe, you can add tomatoes and capsicums to adjust the flavor.(Even if you look for Sri Lankan sardine stir fry or sardine thel dala recipes, try this recipe.Only you will use canned mackerel instead of canned tuna)

Canned tuna recipes are popular among foodies due to its easiness for cooking and due to the easy availability of ingredients. This is why I keep few tuna fish tins at home to cook anytime when I decide to have a spicy dish. Yes, in Sri Lanka this stir fry is cooked with more chili and pepper to make it hot and spicy. But, below is my recipe with less spiciness. You can adjust the spices to suit your taste. 🙂

Oh my god! I have been making spicy tuna for 30 years and just made it up myself , your ingredients are so similar ! I fry the onions first yes , and i use the oil from the can , but i put in garlic ,paprika and curry paste , i used to fry off sliced green chilli with the onions to soften (or add chopped pickled chillies after the curry paste is cooked in a little) then squeeze fresh lemon to taste once cooked, to lift up the whole flavour. I then mix this with pasta bows and the whole family love it. The reason I am actually amazed is that my parents are Sri Lankan and this was never made at home , so must definitely be in my blood!
