So you have invested in an Ice Maker you want to make sure you are getting the most out of it and cocktails are undeniably the best way to use ice flakes.
Here are five great cocktail ideas to put them to good use, particularly over the summer months, when there’s nothing quite as refreshing as an iced beverage.
1. Frozen Margarita
Mix two cups of ice fakes with 80ml of tequila, 2 tablespoons of Cointreau and 1½ tablespoons of fresh lime juice. And, of course, use a lime wedge and salt to coat those glasses. Serves two.
2. Moscow Mule
Traditionally this cocktail is served in a copper mug but a highball glass will do just fine. Combine 60ml of vodka, 20ml of lime juice and a dash of bitters. Fill your glass with ice flakes and then pour ginger beer to the top. Garnish with a lime wedge.
3. Mint Julep
Dissolve a teaspoon in 40ml of ginger ale in a highball glass. Add 1½ cups of ice flakes and 30ml of your favourite bourbon along with a liberal serving of mint leaves (slightly bruised). Stir and serve with a mint sprig.
4. Frozen Espresso Martini
While the conventional espresso martini will have you strain the cocktail over the ice, why not use your ice flakes in the drink itself to make a delicious summer pick-me-up! Combine equal parts Kahlua (or any coffee liqueur), vodka and espresso coffee, then pour over the ice flakes in a martini glass. If you have a sweet tooth also add a sugar syrup and, should you be feeling a little more adventurous, try substituting the vodka with rum or tequila.
5. Strawberry Daquiri
Slice three strawberries and blend with 45ml of white rum, 15ml of Cointreau, 30ml of lime juice and 15ml of sugar syrup. Pour into a glass over your ice flakes and garnish with a strawberry.
