Baby Corn recipes are not so common for me. Most of the time I use baby corn in fried rice recipes and it is the way we use baby corn. But, recently, I wanted to try different recipes with baby corn and this is my first adventure. It is deep fried baby corn.
This deep fried baby corn recipe is really easy to prepare and it is a no brain recipe. However, in order to have an eye pleasing platter you need to take care of deep frying. If it gets burnt or discolored, your baby corn recipe would be a disaster. So, I kept my eye on the appearance while I was frying the baby corns.
This deep fried baby corn is great as a quick snack or as an appetizer. My toddler son loved this although it is not healthy as a baby food. You can adjust the spices according to your taste and prepare a delicious and eye pleasing platter of deep fried baby corn on a weekend or on a holiday as this is a great snack for any time.
So, here is how I cook deep fried baby corn as a quick snack. Try it and let me know how it comes out for you.
Recipe : Deep Fried Baby Corn
Ingredients: (for 1-2 people)
About 10-12 baby corn
Oil for deep frying
1tbsp corn flour
Pinch of Salt
1/2tsp turmeric powder
1/2tsp curry powder
½ tsp chili powder
Curry leaves for garnishing
Method:
Boil water in a pan with added pinch of salt.
Once water is boiled, add baby corn and blanch for about 2-3 minutes
Then strain water. Wash baby corn with cold water and keep aside.
For the batter:
Mix flour, turmeric powder, chili powder and curry powder together. Prepare a thick batter by adding water.
Put all the baby corn in to this batter and mix well.
Keep refrigerated for around 15 minutes.
Deep fry Baby Corn:
After about 15 minutes, now it is time to deep fry baby corn.
Heat oil in a pan.
Once the oil is hot, deep fry the baby corn till it is golden brown.
You can also deep fry some curry leaves and garnish before you serve this deep fried baby corn dish.
Enjoy as a snack or as an appetizer with tomato ketchup.
