Fried Bee Hoon

written by Amila Gamage Wickramarachchi September 6, 2013

Fried Bee Hoon (rice noodles)

This is a recipe I try when I am not sure what to pack into meal box. We love this simple plain bee hoon (rice vermicelli) cooked with soy sauce. Though it is plain, it tastes flavourful due to soy sauce. In Singapore, I  really love to eat this plain bee hoon from Hawker centres, however they use dark soy sauce too together with light soy sauce, so the colour of Bee hoon is really nice.(A little bit darker than this ).I will share that recipe soon. Till then, enjoy this super simple Bee Hoon recipe.(Fried Vermicelli)

Also check this Vegetarian Fried Bee Hoon (Fried Rice Vermicelli) recipe, it is another way I cook Bee Hoon.

Ingredients (for 2-3 servings)
160g Bee Hoon (rice vermicelli noodles)
1 tspn Ginger Garlic paste
1 tbsp light soy sauce
salt, pepper as per taste
3 tbspn spring onion leaves chopped
1 tbspn cooking oil
Water as required

Method
Boil water & cook rice vermicelli as per package instructions.
Add a drop of oil and a pinch of salt to water when cooking vermicelli. Once cooked, drain & keep aside.
Heat a pan. Add oil & Fry ginger garlic paste till fragrant, then add spring onion. Add cooked vermicelli into this & mix well. Then add soya sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
Don’t over cook.Mix well to avoid any lumps.
Simple Fried Bee Hoon is ready. Serve it hot.

It’s also very popular over here. I agree that the soy sauce is the main ingredient which infuses the wonderful taste. I depend on such a dish for a quick and easy meal, especially when I am lazy to cook a full blown meal.

Lunch box dilemmas hit every mother I guess! I often make it the south Indian upma way and your recipe offers a nice alternative flavor.
