Seeni Sambola/Seeni Sambal is a Sri Lankan dish which is sweet & spicy. It is a sweet & spicy onion fry which well goes with Sri Lankan Kiribath or Sri Lankan Appa. Even Seeni Sambola is great with a slice of bread.
I have posted the Seeni Sambola recipe sometimes ago. Last week, I cooked this & thought of posting a new picture.
Ingredients (for 2 person)
5 large Onoins peeled and finely chopped
1/4 cup Maldive Fish
1 1/2 inch Ginger root (crushed)
8 cloves garlic (crushed)
3 tbs red Chilie flakes (kali miris)
5-6 cardamoms
3-4 cloves
1 small sprig Curry leaves
1-2 pieces Rampe(pandan leaf)
1 piece Sera (lemon grass)
1 piece Cinnamon
Salt to taste
2 tbs Sugar
4 tbs Vegetable oil
Method
Mix all the ingredients except sugar & oil. Heat oil in a pan. When oil is hot, add the mixed onions. Mix well. Allow to fry a few minutes longer. When the onion turns tender & golden, add sugar. Mix well. Taste and adjust salt.

Yum! This looks delicious. My hubby loves spicy dishes so maybe I’ll try it. Thanks for the follow–returning the favor. Hope your week is going well.
Looks soo good! I’ve never been to Sri Lankan but had Sri Lankan food yesterday here in Berlin. Ever since the dinner I got more curious about the country and so much want to go there.
Hi do you know where I can find Maldive fish in Singapore?
