In Sri Lankan cuisine we use coconut milk for most of the cooking. Other than that, young coconut is a popular beverage for any time. In Sri Lanka, Coconut water from young coconut is also served for guests as a welcome drink.

Usually young coconuts of age 5-7 months are harvested for getting coconut water. Otherwise, the young coconuts will mature and the liquid is replaced with coconut meat which is used for extracting coconut milk.

To get the most benefits of coconut water, you need to get water from young coconuts as mature coconut’s water is not much rich with nutrients.
