Sausage stir fry is another popular dish in Sri Lanka due to its taste and easy preparation. Sausages are quick to cook in any recipe. There is no much preparation other than wash and slice. Therefore I cook this stir fry and some other sausage recipes when I want to prepare a quick meal.
Although this sausage stir fry is a well-known Sri Lankan recipe, I want to share it here in case if someone looks for it.
Tips to cook Sausage Stir Fry
Below are some cooking tips for you to cook a delicious sausage dish.
- Be sure to adjust chili and other ingredients as per your taste.
- You have to be quick when you fry sausages.Sausages are easily get burnt.
- You can also add banana peppers (Malu Miris) to this stir fry to make it more flavourful and spicy. I didn’t add as I cook for the family including my kid.
- Instead of chicken sausages,you can use chicken franks too.

Sri Lankan Sausage Stir Fry recipe
Ingredients (for 3-4 servings)
4-5 Chicken sausages
1 medium sized onion
2-3 Green chillies
1 sprig of curry leaves
1 inch piece Rampe (Pandan leaf)
¼ tspn mustard seeds
¼ tspn turmeric powder
1 tspn chili flakes
1 inch piece cinnamon stick
Oil to fry
Salt as required
Method
Step 1: Preparation
Wash sausages and cut into bite size pieces.
Keep aside.
Slice onion. Split green chilies lengthwise and keep aside.
Step 2: Cooking
In a frying pan, heat about 1-2 tbspn oil.
Add mustard seeds when oil is hot and allow spluttering.
Then add sliced sausages and fry.
Fry few minutes until the colour of sausages turn in to the cooked colour.
Then add sliced onion, curry leaves and green chili. Add rampe piece too.
Mix well and cook for another few seconds.
When onions are tender, add turmeric powder to the stir-fry and mix well.
Finally add chili flakes to the stir-fry and mix well.
Add salt as per taste.
Mix well and cook for another few seconds.
A Sri Lankan style sausages stir fry is ready to serve.

Actually you don’t use any leaves as main ingredient for this recipe. 🙂 It is a sausage stir fry.Curry leaves and pandan leaf are for adding fragrance and flavour,but you can omit it.
