5 Ways to Save in the Bedroom

written by Amila Gamage Wickramarachchi October 24, 2017
How to Stay Strong at Your 50s

As a wife and a mom, I always look into ways of saving money from our expenditures in every possible ways. However, I don’t mean that saving means living in a budgeted lifestyle or downgrading our lifestyle. For me, it is most important to not to waste. Starting from kitchen, I try to save money by not wasting food, utilities and also time. Sometimes a quick dinner save me lot of time to spend with the family. I use recipes like fried rice to use leftover rice without wasting food. Instead of buying every ingredient from grocery shops, I also use homemade spices and other ingredients for my cooking. When you know how to cut down your food budget, then you are saving more money and stay debt free!

Anyway, through this blog, I always talk about how to save from the kitchen. But as a whole, we need to consider each part of the home and start saving in order to enjoy a good lifestyle and also a stress-free life. With that reason, I thought of sharing these tips that might be helpful for you too in order to save money from your extra expenses on the bedroom.

5 Ways to Save in the Bedroom

1. Save from your utility bills

Yes, you heard it right. And I know you’ve heard this many time before. Any saving tips post start with saving electricity or saving utility as one of the main topics. I also followed the same because still we waste most of the energy and thus the money for bills.

It can be done by switching off the lamps when you don’t use or by using air conditioner in a higher temperature which is still comfortable. You can use dim lights for kids’ rooms if they don’t like to sleep without any light in the room. When you start thinking of saving energy from your bedroom, you will see the decrease in your monthly bill as electricity plays a major role in the utility bill.

Other than saving money on your utility bills, you can also find and join cash back programs. There is a wide range of different cash back programs out there that you can utilize to save money from your purchases. Consequently, these aspiration online bank reviews contain plenty of useful information about these programs that you can take a look at to find more details. Anyway, that being said, your ultimate goal should be to save money from your expenses.

2. Furnish your bedroom with high quality products for affordable rates

5 Ways to Save in the Bedroom

Furniture cost plays a major role in your bedroom. You can’t save on bedroom furniture by selecting the cheapest mattress in the market and the lowest quality pillow for your room. You will end up paying more for health treatments as a result of neck pain and back pain that is due to law quality mattress and pillows.

Instead, you need to know how to buy the best quality bedroom products including bed frame, mattress, pillows, sheets etc. for the best affordable rates. One of the best ways to buy quality products for affordable rates is through online shopping. Many popular brands offer discounted rates when you buy online. You can consider products like these mattresses from amazon when you furnish your bedroom to avoid extra costs.

3. Don’t pay for pain

How often do you go to see your doctor due to back pain or shoulder pain? Do you wake up with pain in your back? Do you have a pile of pain killers and ointments just because of the back pain you suffer daily?

These can be due to your mattress. Are you using a sagging mattress which you bought more than 10 years ago? If so, consider changing your mattress right now. This sounds like spending lot of money on the bedroom while we are talking about bedroom savings. However, a new mattress will save you on long term saving money from your monthly visits to the doctor. If you start experiencing sleeping disorders or body pains, that will be costly no matter how small your pains are. You probably know how expensive the physical therapy and consultation sessions are!

4. Don’t add clutter

Does your bedroom looks like a place to dump clutter? Here I mean lot of furniture, decorations and unwanted lampshades on the walls. All these stuffs are expensive and on the other way, those will not add life to your room. If your bedroom walls are full of picture frames and wall hangers which you bought from your recent shopping trips, consider removing those. If the bedroom is full of ornaments such as flowers, statues and such small items, consider rearranging the room with minimum bedroom necessities. When you de-clutter your room and cultivate the habit of not buying anything and everything that you see, you will enjoy the peace in the room by making a minimalist style. At the same time you will prevent spending unwantedly when you shop next time.

5. Save on bedding

When you buy your bedding materials, always go for comfortable and durable materials. Then you will not need to replace those frequently. Sometimes handmade bedding is comfortable and adds a good look to the room. Keep few sets and rotate those. By doing so, you will expand the lifetime of your bedding sets and also change the style and look of the room without the need of going for a new set.

Above are my favourite ways of saving money from the bedroom. Do you think these savings are really important?
